Welcome! At Rising Oak Nature Education (or RONE) we offer whole-child education opportunities for elementary students by returning kids to their innate creative wisdom in nature.

We offer 4-day and 2-day programs to enhance and enrich your child's learning experience.

Our read-aloud book today was One Word for Kids by Jon Gordon. This story focuses on the idea and concept of setting goals for the new school year. To simplify goal-setting, the kids are encouraged to choose one word that sets the tone for their learning year. Our kiddos then discussed their ideas with friends, and chose their 'one word'. There were so many amazing ideas, which set the tone for an awesome year ahead! 🤩

the eggs are sellin’!

One of the favorite events of the year is when we can do an egg stand.
It’s a perfect taste of what goes in to selling something - from determining cost, quality control, to the patience that sales requires!

Days like cooking day!
It’s always such a blast,
and the kids love diving in to help.
We get to look forward to one more cooking day of the year in June!

Since December, we’ve been working on bringing the 6th annual original play of RONE’s to life - Mission River Rescue!

The kids are ready, lines are memorized, the action is loads of fun, and set pieces are ready to go. The play is a highlight of the year, every year, and we’re sure tomorrow will be no different!

Our beloved Pai died yesterday.

She and her sister Echo were the only 2 hens of the first clutch of eggs we hatched in 2022.
Pai was quite a spirit - proud, confident, and gentle.
She went through a lot over the past year,
having lost her eye in June due to an injury and then battling a few different periods of infection as she healed.

That recovery meant she needed to spend some time as a house chicken,
and what a wonderful house chicken she was.

We will miss her spirit, her poise, and her energy.
We’re grateful she passed quickly,
and we were able to give her the send off that she deserved.

We love you, sweet Pai. ❤️

Yesterday we got out to the baylands for a field trip.
We got to see costal birds, the ebb and flow of the tide, and learn about the salt ponds that have provided salt for hundreds of years - first to the native Ohlone, then to the greater population.

What new places are there to discover in your backyard?
